The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) is a Government of India scheme, launched on 19 August 2016, that provides financial support to establishments undertaking apprenticeship training — including partial stipend reimbursement.

The National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) provides structured on-the-job training for graduate, diploma and technician apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961.

Establishments with a workforce of 30 or more (including contractual staff) must engage apprentices in a band of 2.5%–15% of workforce every year. For establishments with 4–29 workers it is optional; establishments with 3 or fewer workers are not permitted to engage apprentices.

All sectors, including manufacturing and services, are covered. Candidates must be at least 14 years old (18+ for hazardous industries), a minimum of 5th class pass, and registered on the apprenticeship portal.

Establishment registration documents, apprentice ID and educational proofs, Aadhaar/Unique ID, and bank account details for DBT/stipend processing are typically required.

The establishment registers on the portal and posts apprenticeship opportunities; candidates apply; the establishment issues offers; on acceptance, a contract is generated and approved online. We manage this process end-to-end on your behalf.

Employers pay apprentices a monthly stipend at prescribed rates. Under NAPS, 25% of the prescribed stipend (capped at ₹1,500/month per apprentice) is reimbursed by the Government. Claims are typically filed and reconciled quarterly — we handle documentation and tracking.

Minimum stipend varies by qualification — e.g. ₹6,000/month for class 10 pass-outs, ₹7,000 for class 12/diploma, and ₹9,000/month for graduate apprentices — with a 10% increase in year 2 and 15% in year 3 of training.
